Transport Maintenance was started at a workshop yard and panel beater on the corner of Burrow Street and 15th Ave, Tauranga. The company built up a good reputation as a great mechanical repair shop until Transport Maintenance was well known.

In 1973 Transport Maintenance opened a second branch on 3rd Ave, Tauranga. They became the 1st Company to bring Japanese import vehicles into New Zealand. During the 1980's and 1990's Transport Maintenance bought various franchises including Massey Ferguson, Hino Trucks, Isuzu, Mahindra, MTD/ Steelfort, Laser Wheel Alignment and Redstaff.

In 2005 the decision was made to close the 15th Ave workshop in order to consolidate and enhance the business at the one larger site in 3rd Ave. In 2014 Transport Maintenance moved to 100B Maleme Street. This move did not diminish the great standing which Transport Maintenance had earned itself in the community. Tauranga city was growing steadily and the real estate became costly so that the move lowered overheads and TML was able to keep their costs to the customers low while providing the same excellent service.

In 2016 Transport Maintenance partnered with Advanced Braking Technology for import into New Zealand. They also acquired the Australasian partnership to Electrostatic Spraying Systems. In 2018 Transport Maintenance acquired the second site at 35 Maleme Street and with it the Go Bus maintenance contract.

Transport Maintenance relocates to the larger site at 35 Maleme Street. This site provides larger workshop space for more mechanics to work comfortably, more office space and a larger parking area for the trucks and buses. Some of our loyal staff have been working for Transport Maintenance from nearly the beginning. We value our staff and their acquired knowledge and wisdom from the many years’ experience that they are able to pass down to our newer employees and apprentices.
